Any Internet Marketer worth his computer knows that keywords are the life blood of their income. These words are what people type into search engines to find information. If you've done your work right, they'll find your site and come running, eager to buy what you have, this is the way to make money in Internet Marketing. If we didn't have keywords, there would be no income for us marketers!

A lot of marketers get lazy and do not check up on their keywords. Just because you had some keywords at one time that brought in traffic, doesn't mean they will always be popular. That's one reason you should take the time to stop and check on your keywords.

The amount of time we have to work on our sites is limited, so it's important we spend that time wisely. It would be a shame to find out that you've been optimizing your website for keywords that are no longer popular and fail to make money. For example, it wouldn't do you much good to be working on keywords about Christmas in the middle of March. No one is looking to buy Christmas gifts at Easter.

Smart marketers check their keywords often because they will find new keywords that will help them make money with the Internet. There are new celebrities coming into the industry all the time. The new celebs create buzz and thus generate new searches. This is a good example of new keywords showing up that you need to be aware of. Continually ditching old keywords that do not make money and optimizing your site for new ones that do will guarantee you income for a long time.

While some niche keywords just disappear, other change to reflect the times. You'll need to be on the watch for this. Wise niche marketers will be diligent in getting rid of these non profitable keywords and optimize their pages for new, more valuable keywords. Don't waste time and energy optimizing your website for keywords that have died off and that are no longer searched for.

If you want to continue to grow your website, then you'll need to stay on top of the keyword game. These tips will help you do that. Don't throw good money after bad. Let other people optimize their pages for old keywords that aren't being searched for any longer. Watch your keyword list and be the one picking the low hanging fruit
